Next Steps – The Fight Moves to the Senate Judiciary.
PROVIDENCE, RI While the corporate media won’t cover it, the truth is undeniable: we showed up in force. The State House was packed, the lines stretched long, and the sea of yellow in support of gun rights overwhelmingly dwarfed the handful of red shirts present. Thank you to everyone who helped organize the effort and to all who showed up and stood tall. It was a clear and powerful message: we’re engaged, and we’re not backing down.
A Powerful Showing That Sets the Standard
With the House hearings concluded, the fight now moves to the Senate Judiciary Committee, where the next critical battle awaits. We must stay vigilant and continue pressing forward.
At the close of the House hearings, all gun-related bills were “held for further study”, a procedural move that doesn’t kill the bills, it simply tables them temporarily. Any one of them can resurface at any time before the legislative session ends in June. And if history is any indication, we know what can happen next.
In the final weeks of session, leadership often suspends the rules, allowing them to fast-track controversial legislation with no further hearings or public input. We saw it with the magazine ban: introduced, passed out of committee, and pushed through both chambers.
Once that happens, our voices are silenced. No debate. No comment. No say.
Eyes on the Senate Judiciary Committee
The Senate Judiciary Committee is the next battleground. While no official hearing date has been announced yet, we know that Senate Bill S0359, the so-called “Rhode Island Assault Weapons Ban Act of 2025,” will be heard.
We’ll issue a formal call to action when the hearing is scheduled, including instructions for submitting testimony and attending in person. But don’t wait. Contact the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee now. Let them know you oppose S0359 and any legislation that infringes on your right to keep and bear arms.
Make phone calls, send emails, write letters. Visit their offices at the State House and talk in person. Be persistent. Be respectful. But be clear: We’re still here, we’re still watching, and we will not stop fighting for our rights!
