RI Towns Standing Strong in Support of Your Right to Keep and Bear Arms
We’re tracking the towns and cities standing up against gun control in 2025 and the list continues to grow. We’re excited to see our state’s patriots pushing back against these egregious assaults on your Second Amendment rights. This page will keep growing as new information comes in, so check back often for updates!
The 2019 Victories
This fight didn’t start in 2025; it’s built on the efforts of several town council resolutions from 2019.
Back then, Burrillville kicked it off as Rhode Island’s first Second Amendment Sanctuary Town, followed by Hopkinton, West Greenwich, and Foster. They stood tall against the gun control agenda. They are the pioneers and continue to stand strong in this fight.
Towns Standing Strong in 2025
So far, these cities and towns have passed resolutions opposing gun control legislation. We’ll update this list as more towns join the ranks, so keep checking back!

These resolutions are another tool in our belt showing the state we the people, are not backing down.
What’s Coming Next?
We’ve been made aware that the Charlestown Town Council will propose becoming a Second Amendment sanctuary at their meeting on Monday, May 19th, at 7 PM at Charlestown Elementary School.

Keep It Going!
Nine towns is a huge start, and it’s up to us to keep the momentum going. Here’s how you can help:
- Contact Your Council Members: If your town isn’t on the list, reach out. Talk to your council members about the importance of defending your Second Amendment rights and encourage them to pass a resolution. Your voice matters.
- Show Up: Town council meetings are where these votes happen. Attend meetings, speak during public comment, and support council members who stand with us. Your presence makes a real impact.
- Spread the Word: Share this information on social media and with your friends. The more people who know, the stronger we become.
- Push Back: Support the Disaffiliation campaign by letting officials who oppose your rights know you’re taking action in the next election, especially in the Democratic primary where most Rhode Island races are decided.
- Join the Discussion Community: Connect with fellow advocates in the RI Gun Rights discussion community to stay informed and organized.
