By the Numbers

This strategy aims remove anti-gun incumbents where they’re weakest: their own primary. It’s not about party loyalty, it’s about taking action before it’s too late. By disaffiliating, we send a clear message, disrupt their re-election plans, and clear the way for pro-gun candidates in the general election.

The Strategy: How We Fight

1

Disaffiliate Now!

  • By disaffiliating now, we show them we’re watching and mobilizing.
  • If they vote for ANY anti-gun laws, we’ll vote them out in the primary.
  • Proof is in the numbers, We will track, publish and send them the disaffiliation numbers, making it clear this isn’t just talk.
How Disaffiliation Works

By becoming an unaffiliated voter, you are permitted to vote in any primary election without being tied to that party afterward. A recent law ensures that if you vote in a primary as an unaffiliated voter, you will automatically remain unaffiliated after the election, eliminating the need to fill out a disaffiliation form like in years past.

2

Vote in the Primary

  • Most elections in Rhode Island are decided before November, anti-gun politicians often run unopposed in the general election.
  • Removing them in the primary blocks their path to November, forcing a non-incumbent candidate into the general election.
  • Non-incumbents start at a disadvantage, but forcing a primary fight also weakens them by draining their resources.
2

Flip the Advantage

  • With anti-gun incumbents gone, pro-gun candidates have a real chance.
  • Even if an non-incumbent anti-gun candidate wins the primary, they enter the general election weaker.
  • This strategy forces a real fight in November, giving pro-gun candidates the best shot at victory.

Take Action: 4 Steps to Make an Impact

Step 1

Check your Party Registration

Go to the RI Secretary of State voter information center and check your status. If you’re not “unaffiliated,” go to step 2. While you’re there, jot down your state rep and senate district, you’ll need them in Step 3.

Step 2

Disaffiliate if Necessary

If you are not registered as unaffiliated, click “Edit My Voter Record” and change your voter status to “unaffiliated” so you can vote in the Democratic primary.

Step 3

Contact Your Politicians

Call, email, or send a letter to your state representative, state senator, the Speaker of the House, and the Governor. Let them know you are an unaffiliated gun owner and will vote against them if they support ANY anti-gun legislation.

Step 4

Vote in the Democratic Primary

On primary day, vote against ANY candidate who supports gun bans or restrictions on your gun rights. This is how we remove anti-gun politicians where they are weakest, their own primary.
